Meru National Park
Meru National Park, in the Northern Frontier District of Kenya, is untamed Africa at its most alluring. The animals are shy and unused to their human counterparts. This park is singled out as the driest in the country with little rainfall, although it is crisscrossed with numerous rivers and streams running off nearby mountains. The landscape is blessed with dense ribbons of vegetation with baobab trees and palms running through dry valleys. The park is best known for Elsa, the lioness of Joy Adamson’s Born Free. With herds of elephant and northern species such as Grevy’s zebra, oryx and reticulated giraffe, one can observe animals without being disturbed by another soul. Lion and leopard are also found here. The swamps of Meru are home to most of Meru’s 5,000 buffalo, sometimes seen in herds of more than 200. Lesser kudu, gerenuk and cheetah can be found along with hippo and crocodile within the Tana River area.
Located in Meru National Park, Kimbla-Mantana’s private traditional luxury mobile camp consists of substantial, luxurious ridge tents with private verandahs at the front. Each tent has a personal room attendant and an en suite bush toilet and shower. The sleeping areas have large mosquito-proofed windows and safari beds with linens. Meals are served in a separate dining tent and are prepared by an experienced safari chef.
Elsa’s Kopje enjoys breathtaking views over swamps and plains to the foothills of Mount Kenya. Each cottage at Elsa’s Kopje has an en suite bathroom and from your private verandah you will enjoy a stunning 270-degree view. The central bar and dining area as well as the swimming pool also afford spectacular views over the plains.

Loisaba Ranch
Loisaba Ranch is the same size as the Ngorongoro Crater and larger than many of Kenya’s principal national parks. To the north lie the grassy plains of the Laikipia Plateau; to the south, the plateau breaks into valleys, cliffs and escarpments that frame stunning views up to the snows of Mount Kenya. The wilderness is a haven for more than 250 species of birds and 50 species of wildlife. Alongside elephant, buffalo, Grevy’s zebra and greater kudu, the area is rapidly gaining a reputation for exceptional big cat sightings. Even wild dog, thought for many years to be extinct in the northern region, now appear to be coming back to the area. Situated right in the heartland of the nomadic Samburu and Laikipiak Masai people, Loisaba also offers a rare insight into cultures, traditions and a way of life that has stood the test of time.
Loisaba Lodge is perched high on the edge of the plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya. Each of the seven rooms has large French windows that open onto a private deck. The views defy description, and a thousand feet below a water hole draws continuous wildlife.
The Loisaba Star Beds are charismatic, hand built, raised wooden platforms. Half covered with a traditional palm thatch roof, each has a flush toilet, shower and large double bed that can be wheeled outside. Here, from the comfort of your thick duvet, your ceiling will become infinity. It is most fun to reach the Star Beds by foot or on horseback. Once there, you will be hosted and looked after by a colorful team of Samburu warriors.
Masai Mara Game Reserve
Size: 590 square miles
Accessible by 4x4 or by scheduled flight from Nairobi
Lodging: Kimbla-Mantana’s private traditional luxury mobile camp; number of tents is determined by the size of your group or
Il Moran Camp; 10 permanent tents
Activities: game drives (safaris), escorted bush walks, visit a Masai village, hot air balloon safaris

Masai Mara Game Reserve
Masai Mara Game Reserve is one of the best known and popular reserves in the whole of Africa and undoubtedly the finest wildlife area in Kenya. Seasoned safari travelers, travel writers, documentary makers and researchers often admit that the Masai Mara is one of their favorite places. All of the big five game is here: elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino. Other commonly sighted species include: cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, Thompson’s gazelle, Defassa waterbuck, eland, Masai giraffe and topi. The Masai Mara is home to over one hundred species of mammals and more than 450 species of birds.
Kimbla-Mantana’s private traditional luxury mobile camp is set up next to the Mara River and offers an abundance of cool shade and bird life. Our concession area is about as large as the reserve itself and allows our guides to take you not only where the wildlife is but also where other tourists are not. Again, the tents are luxurious ridge tents with private verandahs at the front. Each tent has a personal room attendant and an en suite bush toilet and shower. The sleeping areas have large mosquito-proofed windows and safari beds with linens. Meals are served in a separate dining tent and are prepared by an experienced safari chef.
IL Moran Camp is situated along the banks of the Mara River, right in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Each tent has en suite bathrooms with bath, shower and flush toilet.
